Xinhua, May 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters on Friday issued rainstorm warnings, urging local branches and citizens to prepare for floods.

Torrential rain and thunderstorms will pound southern and southwestern provinces from Friday to Sunday, said a statement posted on the office's official website.

Rainstorms will hit parts of the southern provinces of Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, and areas in the southwestern Guizhou and Yunnan provinces as well as Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region starting on Friday, according to the statement.

Strong wind and hailstorms will occur in northern regions along the Yellow and Huaihe rivers until Saturday, China Meteorological Administration forecast.

The administration added that Tibet will experience some rain over the next three days. Endi
