Tokyo stocks open higher on bargain-hunting

Tokyo stocks opened slightly higher in early trading Friday on bargain-hunting after steep losses the previous day.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 41.09 points, or 0.21 percent, from Thursday to 19,333.08. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 1.98 points, or 0.13 percent, to 1,576.62.

Major gainers included other products, air transportation and fishery, agriculture and forestry. Endi
