Botswana determined to finish off Kenya in Africa championship qualifiers

Xinhua, May 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Botswana national under-23 soccer team is scheduled to leave the country early Friday morning to face their Kenyan counterparts in the second leg of the 2015 Africa Championships qualifiers.

Speaking to Xinhua on Thursday afternoon, Botswana coach Keitumetse Pio Paul said his side, carrying a 3-0 lead into the game are more than determined to finish off the job when they clash on Saturday afternoon.

The two sides are scheduled to play at Nyayo Natural Stadium on Saturday afternoon with the winner progressing to face Zambia in the next round of the qualifiers.

The junior zebras go into the match with a huge advantage after winning the first leg match 3-0 at home a fortnight ago. Paul said despite the aggregate lead, they will not take their opponents for granted as they displayed good football even though they could not score.

He said they will be sticking to their game plan and had no plans to go to Kenya to just defend the lead. "We have our game plan and we will stick to it. We had a chance to study them in the first round match, so we now know exactly what to expect when we get to Kenya," he said.

The coach will be pinning his hopes on a good number of youngsters who play in the country's premier league and have previously been called to the senior team. Goal scorers in the first leg Omaata Kebatho and Onkabetse Makgantai are expected to once again lead the young Zebras attack in Kenya.

The top three teams at the championships will automatically secure a spot at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Endi
