Botswana off to good start in regional volleyball championships

Botswana's men and women volleyball teams are off to a good start at the ongoing Africa Zone six All Africa Games qualifiers in the capital city of Gaborone.

The regional championship that attracted four countries, Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Zambia started on Tuesday evening. Botswana women started off by beating Zambia 3-0 winning in the opening match of the competition.

The hosts dominated the game winning the first set 25-12, followed by 25-3 in the second one and 25-15 for the last set. In the men's game that followed, Botswana won 3-1.

The home side clinched the first set but Zambia rallied from behind to win the second set before Botswana finished off winning the final set.

In other matches played on Tuesday, Mozambique women beat Zimbabwe 3-0 while the Zimbabwean men suffered a 3-1 loss to Mozambique. On Wednesday, Botswana continued where they left off with the women registering their second straight victory, 3-1 against Zimbabwe. Endi
