A Sino-Russian exhibition of wartime photography opened in a Beijing university on Wednesday to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The exhibition, jointly sponsored by Renmin University, the Russian embassy to China and Russia's Tass News Agency, will be held open in Renmin University for a month.

It features about 100 photos provided by Tass of Soviet troops joining the Chinese army to fight Japanese invaders in northeast China as well as celebrations of the end of the war in Russia.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Renmin University President Chen Yulu said the friendship forged by China and Russia during wartime serves as a foundation for the China-Russia partnership today.

Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov called on people to always remember the horrors of war.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Russia from Friday to Sunday and attend a ceremony in Moscow to commemorate the war anniversary. Endi
