7,500 athletes to attend 2015 Chinese Ethnic Games

Xinhua, May 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

About 7,500 athletes will compete in the 10th Chinese Ethnic Games running from Aug. 9 to 17 in northern Chinese city of Ordos, organizers said on Wednesday.

The nine-day ethnic sports meet, combined with culture and folk-custom shows, will contain a total of 17 medal events and about 140 demonstration events.

Around 5,300 volunteers have been recruited to serve inside the competing venues, as well as more than 10,000 volunteers will offer service outside playing fields.

Rather than competitions for medals, the ethnic games are more of a happy gathering for China's 55 ethnic groups.

The previous hosts of the games are Tianjin, Hohhot, Urumqi, Nanning, Kunming, Lhasa/Beijing, Yinchuan, Guangzhou and Guiyang. Endit
