"Furious 7" remains unrivaled at China's box office

Street-racing thriller "Furious 7" continued to rule China's box office with 287 million yuan (about 46 million U.S. dollars) in ticket sales for the week ending May 3.

The blockbuster, released April 12, surpassed "Transformers 4" to become the most successful movie in Chinese cinemas on April 26 when its total ticket sales hit 2.02 billion yuan. Transformers grossed about 1.97 billion yuan in a month in China last summer.

Domestic romance "You Are My Sunshine" was a respectable No. 2 in the week, taking 227 million yuan, China Film News reported on Wednesday. It debuted on April 30.

Chinese romance "The Left Ear," which was released on April 24, landed in third with 204 million yuan. Its total, earnings hit 404.2 million yuan on May 3.

Fourth place went to domestic action-thriller "Helios," which earned 131 million yuan in the week after opening on April 30.

Rounding out the top five was animated American fantasy "Home," which pulled in 83 million yuan in the week. Its total box office stood at 133.9 million yuan as of May 3 after opening on April 24. Endi
