The signing of a Free Trade Agreement ( FTA) between Vietnam and South Korea on Tuesday created a new driving force for bilateral ties, particularly in economy, trade, investment and tourism, said Vietnamese Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Tan Dung.

The Vietnamese PM made the remarks while receiving Yoon Sang- jick, ROK's Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy in Vietnam's capital Hanoi after the signing of the FTA.

Yoon Sang-jick and Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, on behalf of the two governments, signed the agreement with the attendance of PM Dung. The Vietnamese government attaches importance to deepening bilateral relations practically and effectively for both countries' interests and development, Dung was quoted by the website of Vietnamese government as saying.

The prime minister stressed that both sides should join hands to realize the pact effectively and smoothly.

The South Korean minister, for his part, noted that the FTA was a milestone in the Vietnam-South Korea strategic partnership, opening new cooperation prospects and opportunities in bilateral ties.

Yoon affirmed that his country would work closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade as well as relevant agencies and ministries of Vietnam to boost bilateral trade exchanges.

The FTA, consisting of 17 chapters, 208 articles, 15 appendices and one deal on regulation enforcement, was reached after over two years of negotiations. Endi
