About 26 Taliban militants have been killed in fresh military operations across Afghanistan within the last 24 hours, said the country's Defense Ministry on Tuesday morning.

"A total of 26 armed militants were killed during joint military operations and cleanup raids carried out by army over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates.(Afghanistan-Militants-Death)

---- KATHMANDU -- UNICEF and EU have joined hands together to send 40 metric tons of life-saving supplies to 1.7 million children affected by earthquake in Nepal.

According to a press release issued by UNICEF, a cargo plane carrying 40 metric tons of humanitarian supplies has already landed in Kathmandu on Tuesday morning. A second cargo plane, with another 40 metric tons of supplies will be arriving later this week. (Nepal-Earthquake-Aid)

---- HONG KONG -- Hong Kong will tighten up inspection of food imported by sea after reports that radioactive produce from Japan may have passed through Kwai Chung Container Terminal, the city's Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said here on Tuesday.

The department's Director Vivian Lau said there was no inspection check-point at the terminal, however, the officers have been visiting the importers' storehouses to ensure the food was safe to be sold.(Hong Kong-Food-Security)

NEW DELHI -- India Tuesday inducted into its army its home-made supersonic surface-to-air Akash missile that can target enemy helicopters and aircraft up to 25 kms, sources said.
