1st LD: Chinese shares plunge 4 pct in afternoon trading

Chinese shares tumbled on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down more than 4 percent in the afternoon trading session.

The Shenzhen Composite Index fell more than 4.5 percent.

Over 2,000 shares listed in the two bourses were in the negative territory. Electric power, coal and shipbuilding industries led the declines. Endi
