Argentina's "strongest man" killed in mugging

Xinhua, May 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Dubbed Argentina's "strongest man," bodybuilder Alan Garay has been stabbed to death, it is reported Monday.

The 43-year-old was stabbed twice outside his home in the city of Las Heras, Mendoza, around noon Sunday, reported Uno newspaper.

According to Uno, witnesses said his assailant, who tried to get away on a bicycle but was stopped by a passing police patrol, was after Garay's fanny pack.

Garay, a burly man who weighed some 120 kilos, had earned the title "the country's strongest man" in an international strongman competition, where contestants pull trucks weighing up to 15 tons.

Garay had worked as a bodyguard for Puerto Rican singer Chayanne, during his shows in Mendoza last month, and was due to serve as a judge at a bodybuilding contest, his sister told reporters. Endi
