Midfielder Cabaye to raise concerns about regular position for France

Xinhua, May 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Midfielder Yohan Cabaye admitted in a TV interview of being worried about his place in France's Euro 2016 squad after having struggled for game-time at Paris Saint- Germain this season.

"It is a distinct moment in my career," Cabaye told Canal Football Club over the weekend.

"I need to speak to the national team coach and my representatives to see what is best for me," he said.

The 29-year-old former Newcastle player, who signed for the Ligue 1 defending champions in 2014, has started just 11 matches in his 21 appearances for Laurent Blanc's side so far this season.

PSG are now leading three points on top of Ligue 1 over seven- time title holders Lyon, with just three rounds left in the 2014- 2015 season of the first division league.

And with Euro 2016 taking place on France's soil next year, Cabaye felt it necessary to seek advice from France coach Didier Deschamps amid concerns over his position in the national team.

"I have never been through this before," he added. "You have to accept it but also try to change it. It is very important for me as I want to play at Euro 2016." Endite
