Xinhua, May 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

U.S. factory orders rose in March after falling for seven months in a row, the U.S. Commerce Department said in a report Monday.

In March, new orders for manufactured goods increased 9.6 billion U.S. dollars, or 2.1 percent month on month, to 476.5 billion dollars, the report said.

Transportation equipment orders, which include both aircraft and vehicles, led the increase, surging 13.5 percent to 80.4 billion dollars. Transportation orders are frequently volatile, and are often stripped out to get a clearer view of underlying trends. Excluding transportation, new orders reported no change in the month, compared with an increase of 0.1 percent in February.

Shipments increased 0.5 percent to 482.2 billion dollars in March. Endite
