Ghana warms up for COSAFA Cup

Xinhua, May 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ghana on Monday began preparations ahead of the impending 2015 COSAFA Cup in South Africa later this month.

The team will feature in the qualifying games for the Championship for African Nations (CHAN) tournament in Rwanda next year.

The head coach of the local Black Stars team, Maxwell Konadu, has picked 26 players to assemble in the mining city of Obuasi, some 323km north of the national capital, on Monday to get ready for the tournament.

Ghana will replace Comoros Islands who have opted not to compete in the championship slated for South Africa from May 17-30.

The West African nation will be expected to become the first non-Southern African side to lift the trophy in the 17-year history of the regional showpiece. Enditem
