Celebration events were held across Britain on Monday to mark the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's baby girl.

41 volleys have been fired by the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery in Hyde Park at 2:00 p.m. local time (1300 GMT).

Meanwhile, the Honourable Artillery Company also fired a 62-gun salute at the Tower of London.

The Royal Artillery Band also played music to celebrate the birth of the new princess.

The bells at Westminster Abbey also joined in the celebrations, pealing at 2:00 p.m..

Gun salutes have also taken place at Edinburgh, Cardiff and Hillsborough castles, local media reported.

The Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duchess' family visited the new princess on Sunday, Kensington Palace said.

Prince Harry, who is currently in Australia, said his niece is "absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to meet her."

The baby girl, weighing about 3.7 kilograms, was born at 8:34 a.m. local time on Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital.

The princess is now the fourth in line to the British throne, behind her brother George, father William and grandfather Prince Charles.

People of the nation are still waiting for her name being announced. Endit
