Chinese woman punished for walking dog on expressway

Xinhua, May 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

A young lady walking her pet dog along an expressway in China startled even local traffic police.

According to the transport department in central China's Hubei Province, a woman was found walking her dog on the emergency lane while her boy friend "answered an urgent call of nature" by the roadside with their car parked in the middle of the highway on Friday.

According to the officer on the scene, the driver did not set up a warning triangle behind the car and passing vehicles had to slow down suddenly and change lanes to avoid the danger.

In addition to a fine of 200 yuan (32 U.S. dollars), six penalty points were put on the driver's license. An accumulation of 12 points within a year means the license is suspended.

Friday was the first day of China's three-day May Day holiday, during which expressway tolls are canceled to boost domestic tourism. Endi
