China's Deng Yalan wins gold at World Challenge Cup

China's Deng Yalan won gold in the women's vault at the gymnastics World Challenge Cup in Sao Paulo on Saturday.
The 16-year-old finished with an average score of 14.962 from her two jumps, ahead of Brazil's Rebeca Andrade (14.700) and Chile's Franchesca Santi (14.162).
Andrade admitted to feeling nervous in front of her home fans.
"It's normal to be a little bit nervous," the 15-year-old said. "I'm satisfied with my performance but it could have been a little better. I know I will improve."
Brazil's Angelo Assumpcao won gold in the men's vault with a mean score of 15.025, ahead of Germany's Mathias Fahrig (14.850) and Diego Hypolito (14.837) China's Xi Huang was fifth with an average of 14.487.
In the men's parallel bars, Germany's Lukas Dauser took gold with a 15.750 points average, eclipsing China's Xiaodong Zhu (15.525) and Brazil's Francisco Barretto (15.300).
The May 1-3 event is the fourth of the 2015 FIG World Challenge Cup season and includes gymnasts from 14 countries and regions. Endi
