Philippines beats Malaysia 3-0 at AFF Woman's Championship

The Philippines made a surprising triumph in the first Group B match of the 2015 AFF Women's Championship on Saturday in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City, whitewashing Malaysia 3-0.

Early in the first half, Malaysian players controlled the ball well. However, in the 24th minute, Filipino striker Jesse Anne Shugg made the opening goal after a blitz attack.

In the 72nd minute, it is the scorer Shugg that delivered an exact pass to newly substituted striker Joanna Houplin who defeated Malaysian goalie Asma Junaidi, doubling the lead for the Filipino squad.

Three minutes later, 25-year-old striker Houplin scored again, helping her team to gain a final victory of 3-0 over Malaysia.

After the game is the second Group B match between Vietnam and Myanmar, two strong candidates for the 2015 AFF Women's Championship which lasts from May 1 to 10.

Eight teams, including Thailand, visiting Australia U20, Indonesia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmamr, Malaysia and the Philippines are competing for the trophy. Japan was crowned in the previous AFF Women's Championship. Endi
