Liu, Mu cruise into women's semis

Chinese Liu Shiwen and Mu Zi both made it to the women's singles semifinals at the world table tennis championships on Friday.

Liu, ranked second in the world, edged out teammate Zhu Yuling 11-3, 8-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-3, while Mu Zi downed Singapore's world No. 4 Feng Tianwei 11-5, 11-2, 11-9, 11-5, clearing the biggest threat to the Chinese team.

China is expected to sweep all semifinal spots with Japanese teenager Mima Ito pitted against defending champion Li Xiaoxia of China and top-ranked Ding Ning vs fellow Chinese Wu Yang. Enditem
