A court in Pakistan on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to 10 suspects for the 2012 attack on teenage education activist Malala Yousafzai, who won Nobel Prize in December last year for her outspoken views on girls' education.
The outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan had claimed responsibility for the attack. Two other girls were also injured in the attack. All are now studying in Britain.
An anti-terrorism court in northwestern Swat valley announced the jail term to the suspects arrested by the security forces last year.
Pakistan's army said in September last year that the security forces arrested 10 militants suspected of involvement in the attack against Malala Yousafzai.
Army spokesman Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa said the Taliban had planned the attack on the instructions from their chief, Mullah Fazalullah.
Security officials say that Fazalullah is hiding in Afghanistan. Endi
