The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in the 19-member eurozone was 11.3 percent in March 2015, a stable figure compared with February 2015 and down from 11.7 percent in March 2014, the European Union (EU) said Thursday.

By contrast, the unemployment rate in the 28-member EU was 9.8 percent in March 2015, stable compared with February 2015 and down from 10.4 percent in March 2014, said Eurostat, or the statistical office of the EU.

Eurostat estimated that 23.748 million men and women in the EU, of whom 18.105 million are in the eurozone, were unemployed in March 2015.

Among the member states, the lowest unemployment rate in March 2015 was recorded in Germany and the highest was in Greece and Spain.

Compared with a year ago, the unemployment rate fell in twenty-two member states, increased in five, and remained stable in Austria. The largest decreases were registered in Ireland, Spain and Poland, while the increases were registered in Croatia, Finland, Italy, France and Belgium.

In March 2015, the unemployment rate for the young people aged below 25 was 20.9 percent in the EU and 22.7 percent in the eurozone, compared with 22.8 percent and 24.2 percent respectively in March 2014. Endit
