18 teams compete at Asian women's beach volleyball tourney

Eighteen teams from 10 countries and regions are taking part in the Asian women's beach volleyball tournament which opened Thursday in Vietnam's northeastern Quang Ninh province.

The tournament saw teams from Australia, China, Japan, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Thailand and host Vietnam, among others.

The 18 teams will play in knockout format with those losing twice will be eliminated. The eight teams with best results will enter semifinal round.

The tournament, being held in Quang Ninh's Ha Long city, some 120 km east of capital Hanoi, is scheduled to last till May 3. Endi
