Hungary to host world police service pistol shooting championship

Xinhua, April 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

Hungary will host the 1st World Police Service Pistol Shooting Championship in Budapest from May 4-6, organizers said on Wednesday.

The contest has been designed to emulate situations that police have to face in the course of duty, such as having to intervene in a bank robbery. In all there will be 12 such situations, each set up with a different shooting course.

Contestants are required to be in uniform and to carry much of the equipment (e.g. handcuffs) they normally would use in a day's work, and will have to use the handguns issued by their own police forces as standard equipment.

The Hungarian Law Enforcement Sports Association is organizing the event at the request of the International Police Sports Union (USIP), which is primarily responsible for the organization of the World Police Championships in different sports disciplines.

Competitors from 17 countries and regions are expected to attend. Endi
