A British national died in the massive earthquake in Nepal on April 25, Britain's foreign office confirmed Wednesday.
Consular assistance was being provided for the relatives, according to a spokesman for the foreign office.
The name of the Briton was not officially released, but local media reported the Briton had not been residing in Britain.
It is the first confirmed death of a Briton in the earthquake to date, but about 30 British nationals are still reported missing.
Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said there were an estimated 500 to 1,000 British nationals in Nepal but there was "no single co-ordinated list," BBC reported. Endit
