Up to seven militants were killed Tuesday in the province of Tizi Ouzou, 120 km in eastern Algiers, local media reported.

Algerian defense minister said that five militants were killed during a military operation still underway in Azazga, east of Tizi Ouzou.

Citing a security source, the Transportation Security Administration news website said army troops killed another two militants, bringing the death toll to seven dead terrorists.

The source added that "almost all Ennour terror group members were killed in this operation."

The defense ministry statement specified that they retrieved four Kalashnikov machine guns, one automatic gun, munition, explosives and mobile phones, adding that the operation is still underway. Endit
