Belgian aircraft to assist in Nepal rescue operation

A Belgian B-Fast rescue mission has been given the green-light to fly to the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu, Le Soir reported on Tuesday.

The Belgian rescue mission will leave from New Delhi in India and arrive in Kathmandu at 4:00 p.m. local time (1015 GMT).

The death toll from Saturday's massive earthquake is currently estimated to be around 4,310 people, with a further 8,000 injured. According to the United Nations, about eight million people were affected by the disaster and are suffering in the aftermath.

According to the Belgian ministry of foreign affairs, there are 176 Belgian nationals situated in Nepal. On Monday, the ministry said that 28 of those were still unaccounted for. Endit
