Singapore stocks close 0.59 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 20. 76 points, or 0.59 percent, to close at 3,495.09.

A total of 1.71 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 37 billion Singapore dollars (1.03 billion U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 268 to 182, while 479 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 2.85 points, or 0.08 percent, to close at 3,515.85 on Monday. Endi
