Tanzanian president mourns Nepal earthquake victims

Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete on Monday sent a condolence message to President Ram Baran Yadav of Nepal following a tragic earthquake that rocked the country on Saturday, killing more than 3,000 people.

"I have learnt with profound shock and deep sorrow the sad news of a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday," Kikwete said in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

He said that the tragedy was not only for the loved ones of those who perished but also for all the Nepali people and their friends.

"As a country therefore, our thought and prayers are with the people of Nepal in this time of grief," the president said.

He said he offered deep condolences to the victims of the powerful earthquake and also sincere sympathies to the injured and families of the victims. Endi
