After almost a three-month boycott, Serbian representatives of Srpska List decided Thursday to return to Kosovo's government and assembly.
Srpska List, established before June elections in 2014, is currently the main Serbian political party in Kosovo and a partner to the ruling coalition.
"One of the main reasons for the return to the government and the assembly of Serbian representatives is the deal that in the future there won't be unilateral actions from the coalition partners, especially in regard to privatization process in Serbian dominated localities," Srpska List said in a statement.
Speaking on their decision to return, Srpska List said the focus on the future engagement of Serbian representatives is the economic development in the Serbian dominated localities.
"However, we agreed with coalition partners to pay a special attention to the process of returning displaced people and increase the presence of Serbs in institutions in accordance with the law." In this sense, they said an inter-ministerial group will be established to address these matters.
Kosovo unilaterally declared independence in 2008, Serbia categorically refuses to recognize its independence.
Serbs started the boycott following the decision of Kosovar "Prime Minister" Isa Mustafa to dismiss Serb Minister Aleksandar Jablanovic, because of the comments the latter made in January.
A bus with about 40 displaced Serbs was stoned during a protest of Albanian mothers of missing persons in Gjakova/Djakovica on Jan. 6. Jablanovic called the women protesters "beasts". Subsequently, at least 20 protests took place all over Kosovo with two big violent ones in Pristina, demanding Jablanovic's dismissal.
When Jablanovic was dismissed on Feb. 3, Srpska List announced a boycott to the Kosovo institutions as they did not agree with Mustafa's decision. Endit
