The Health Qigong Workshop, organized by the Chinese Mission to the European Union (EU), launched here on Thursday evening as part of a series of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relationship.
Head of the Chinese Mission to the EU Yang Yanyi, Belgian Princess Marie-Esmeralda, President of Belgian Health Qigong Federation (BHQF) and Vice President of the International Health Qigong Federation Pierre De Keukelaere, a Chinese Qigong delegation headed by Nei Yang Gong (a branch of Qigong) Master Liu Yafei, and over 100 European Qigong practitioners attended the opening ceremony.
"With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts, Qigong is emblematic of traditional Chinese culture," said Ambassador Yang at the opening ceremony.
The Health Qigong Workshop would help "to showcase the great exercise of Health Qigong for body building, to share knowledge and experience, to improve mastery of this unique culture and art, and most importantly to forge strong ties of friendship between our people, particularly Qigong masters, practitioners, athletes and amateurs," added Yang.
Led by Liu Yafei, Qigong practitioners, three from China and 10 from Belgium, also gave an excellent performance of Nei Yang Gong at the ceremony and drew prolonged applause from the audience.
The workshop held on Friday would include not only theoretical lectures on Qigong, but also an opportunity for the attendees to practice under the guidance of Qigong masters, according to the Chinese Mission to the EU. Endit
