20 militants killed in Afghanistan

Units of police backed by the army have killed 20 armed militants during a series of operations across the country over the past 24 hours, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here Thursday.

The operations which have been conducted in Zabul, Kandahar, Herat, Kunar, Jauzjan, Takhar and Kunduz, during which 10 more militants have been arrested, the statement contended.

It didn't say if there were casualties on the side of security personnel. Taliban militants fighting the government have yet to make comment. Endi
