Lebanon army receives military vehicles as Saudi donation

The Lebanese army announced Wednesday that it has received a new batch of British military vehicles that comes within the frame of the Saudi donation to the Lebanese army.

In a communique by the Guidance Directorate, the army said that it has "received 98 Land Rovers military vehicles."

Lebanon received on Monday the first shipment of the French military equipment within the frame of the Saudi donation, comprised of 48 Milan anti-tank infantry missiles.

Saudi Arabia announced in 2013 a donation of three billion U.S. dollars and in 2014 donated another one billion dollars to strengthen the capabilities of the Lebanese army and the security forces in the fight against terrorism.

The Lebanese army has been confronting the fundamentalists gunmen from the al-Qaida linked al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State since they overran the eastern border town of Arsal in August. Endit
