Rockets beat Mavericks to take 2-0 series lead

The Houston Rockets surged past the Dallas Mavericks 111-99 Tuesday night at Toyota Center to take a 2-0 lead in the NBA Western Conference playoff series.

The two teams struggled during the first three quarters and neither was able to establish a sizable lead. The Rockets, however, had a late spurt in the fourth and maintained a double digit lead till their final victory.

Dwight Howard scored 28 points and James Harden added 24 for Houston. Their teammates Josh Smith and Corey Brewer each had 15 points. Monta Ellis had 24 for the Mavericks.
