Some 18 Taliban militants have been killed and 13 wounded as Afghan security forces pressed ahead with offensives in restive provinces, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

"Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) carried out cleanup operations in Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Parwan, Samangan, Jawzjan, Zabul, Wardak, Logar, Herat and Helmand provinces within the past 24 hours, killing 18 armed Taliban militants, wounding 13 and detaining three others," the ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates.

The ANSF also seized weapons and defused five roadside bombs planted by the militants over the same period, the statement said, without elaborating the casualties of the security forces.

The Taliban insurgent group has yet to make comments. Endi
