FTSE 100 stages moderate increase on Monday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Monday increased by 0.82 percent, or 57.50 points, to 7,052.13 points.

Ashtead Group's share price increased by 2.88 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. Anglo American, Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and InterContinental Hotels Group increased by 2.72 percent, 2.61 percent, 2.46 percent and 2.35 percent respectively.

Fresnillo led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 1.72 percent, followed by Associated British Foods (ABF) (1.48 percent), Capita (1.25 percent), G4S (1.07 percent) and Persimmon (0.98 percent).

The index has gained 8.85 percent so far this year when measured in U.S. dollar. Endit
