Nepalese Prime Minister leaves for Indonesia visit

Nepal's Prime Minister Sushil Koirala left Monday for a week-long visit to Indonesia to attend the Asian-African Summit to be held on 22-23 April in Jakarta, the Nepalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

According to the ministry, the prime minister will also join the commemorative event that will be organized on April 24 in Bandung on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of 1955 Asian- African Conference and the 10th Anniversary of the New Asian- African Strategic Partnership.

Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal, Bamdev Gautam and senior officials saw off the 11- member delegation led by Prime Minister Koirala at the Tribhuwan International Airport on Monday.

Both the Summit and the commemorative event are being held under the theme of "Strengthening South-South Cooperation to promote World Peace and Prosperity. "

The prime minister will address the Summit on this theme, the ministry said.

Prime Minister Koirala is also scheduled to attend a dinner hosted by Indonesian President Joko Widodo, ministry spokesperson Tara Prasad Pokharel told Xinhua.

Besides attending the Commemorative Event, Koirala will also participate in the "Historical Walk" from the city's classic hotel Savoy Homann to the Merdeka Building, the venue that hosted the initial Asian-African Conference in 1955. Endi
