Palestinian FM says independence effort needs solidarity from Asian, African countries

Xinhua, April 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki said here on Monday that Palestine's independence effort needs the world's solidarity, especially from the countries in Asia and Africa.

Speaking at the ministerial meeting of the Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of Asian-African Conference (AACC) held in the Indonesian capital, Maliki said solidarity is what Palestinians are longing for.

"It would be naive to think that the Asian-African Summit will give independence to Palestine. But, perhaps, this conference can give a solution for our nation in gaining independence," the foreign minister said.

He maintained that the meetings being held here in Indonesia showed a support mechanism. "If there is one issue that can unite the countries in this meeting, then the issue is the support for Palestinian independence," he noted. Endi
