Cannavaro eyes three points against exhausted FC Seoul

Xinhua, April 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Fabio Cannavaro is hoping his Guangzhou Evergrande can seal the first place of Group H with a victory against FC Seoul in AFC Champions League match on Tuesday.

"We know that one point will see us progress but we have not come here to draw, our target is to win, we want three points," Evergrande coach Cannavaro said here Monday.

Guangzhou stayed in the first place despite a defeat to Kashima Antlers two weeks ago. The 2013 champions league winning side need just one point to advance to the next round, but a win against Seoul FC will help them clinch the first place in the group.

"Our players are highly motivated, I hope we have a good performance and try our best to get three points," the Italian said.

FC Seoul, meanwhile, are not at their best. The 2013 champions league runners-up are suffering from a busy calendar in domestic league.

Seoul's coach Choi Yongsoo admitted his team were exhausted after playing three games in seven days.

"Many players are exhausted, but we need to concentrate, we are now at a good position in the group, we should try our best to give us a comfortable seat before the final round," Choi said.

What's even worse for the home side is right back Cha Duri's injury. The veteran will be out for at least three weeks, according to Choi.

Cannavaro, however, stayed alert despite their opponent's poor form.

"We have to pay much more attention. Players from Seoul tomorrow will show their best to defend their home soil, we should be get ready for this," he said. Endi
