Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and her Fijian counterpart Ratu Inoke Kubuabola met here on Sunday, discussing plans to hold bilateral ministerial meeting scheduled for August in Fiji and ways to expand bilateral ties.

The meeting between the two ministers took place during Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) event featured in the 60th Asia Africa Conference (AAC) held here.

Retno said during the talks, the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral ties, among others, in economy and peacekeeping missions and a plan to free the visa for officials of both nations holding diplomatic passports. "We also agreed to push forward efforts aimed at improving women's status,"the Indonesian foreign minister told reporters.

She added that ministers of both countries overseeing the women issue already had a meeting in New York and they agreed to hold a meeting on the issue in Fiji in October this year.

Fiji and Indonesia are intensively involved in South-South Triangular Framework.

Fiji participated in the 60th AAC as an observer. Other countries that sent their representatives to the event as observers include Cuba, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, the United States, Australia and Venezuela. Endi
