British FTSE 100 closes lower on Fri.

FTSE 100 Index, Britain's benchmark stock market gauge, decreased by 0.93 percent Friday, or 65.82 points, to 6,994.63 points.

BP's share price increased by 1.25 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. Severn Trent, Sky, Whitbread and Barratt Developments increased by 0.61 percent, 0.48 percent, 0.29 percent and 0.28 percent respectively.

St. James's Place led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 3.23 percent, followed by Anglo American (2.74 percent), GKN (2.51 percent), Schroders (2.48 percent) and Hargreaves Lansdown (2.26 percent).

The index has gained 7.96 percent so far this year when measured in U.S. dollars. Endit
