2 moderate quakes hit NE India

Xinhua, April 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two moderate earthquakes hit the northeastern Indian state of Assam Friday, a senior disaster management official said.

However, there have been no reports of any casualty or damage to properties so far, he said, on condition of anonymity.

"The first quake measured 4.8 on the Richter scale and occurred in the state's Sonitpur district while the second quake, measuring 3.8 magnitude, took place at Morigan in central Assam," the official said.

Senior disaster officials have rushed to the spots, he added. Endi
