Gambia's former president discharged from hospital

Xinhua, April 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former Gambian President Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara has been discharged from hospital in Senegal after successful treatment, according to family sources in Banjul.

He was under medical treatment in Senegal after long illness.

The 91-year-old former president was under medical attention for almost a year now and was quickly referred to Senegal in early March for treatment.

"He is well and fine as I am talking to you the old man is moving from place to place and he is talking to people, so we thank God for being with us," one of the family members who declined to be named said.

"We heard about the false publications and the spread of rumors announcing his death, all these are false. Yes he was admitted but not dead, it is just few people, who are spreading all these false information in town," the family member said.

"We also thank sympathizers, friends and family members for their support and sharing the hard time with us," the source said. Endi
