Tokyo stocks open lower following U.S. stocks losses

Tokyo stocks opened lower in early trading Friday, tracking overnight declines in U.S. and European shares.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 133. 37 points, or 0.67 percent, from Thursday to 19,752.40. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 9.54 points, or 0.60 percent, at 1,589.88.
