Economic Sentiment Indicator of Albania falls in Q1

Xinhua, April 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Bank of Albania's Business and Consumer Confidence Survey Thursday said that the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) of Albania fell by 4.6 points in the first quarter of 2015.

According to Albanian Central Bank, the ESI decrease stopped the upward trend registered from the fourth quarter of 2013. The current ESI level stands above its average over the three previous quarters and 0.5 points below its long-term average.

The downward confidence in all sectors of Albania's economy and the marked decrease of consumer confidence provided the main contribution to the ESI fall in the first quarter.

In 2015 Q1, the Industry Confidence Indicator (ICI) registered a decrease for the second quarter in a row. The ICI fall by 3.2 percentage points was mainly affected by the decrease of the manufacturing turnover by 8.5 percentage points. The inventories in 2015 Q1 remained almost unchanged compared with the previous quarter.

The Trade Confidence Indicator (TCI) fell by 4 percentage points in 2015 Q1. The worsening of TCI was affected by a more pessimistic assessment of businesses and their financial situation and the overall situation of the businesses.

Services Confidence Indicator (SCI) stopped the upward trend, falling by 2.4 points in the first quarter of 2015. The SCI decline was affected by the worsening balance and the overall financial situation of the business. Assessment of the demand remained unchanged compared with the previous quarter.

Construction Confidence Indicator(CCI) fell by 5.2 points in 2015 Q1 following a gradual increase in 2014. Its current level stands close to its record average.

Consumer Confidence Indicator (CCI) dropped by 2.7 points in 2015 Q1, confirming the downward trend of the previous quarter. The CCI fall reflected the worsened balance of the major purchases, which registered a decline by 9.2 percentage points. Endit
