-- The European Commission accuses Google of abusing its market power and therefore tightened the pressure against the U.S. Internet giant. The commission's anti-cartel authorities on Wednesday sent a "Statement of Objections" to Google. It is alleged that the company systematically favored its own price comparison service in its general search results pages.

-- The German Federal Public Prosecutor is investigating the possibility of German jihadists being involved in torturing hostages of the terrorist network Islamic State (IS). German jihadists have been reportedly worked as guards in prisons of IS, where the beheaded American, British and Japanese hostages were detained. Authorities decided to launch the investigation after a 27-year-old German, who was placed into various IS jails until June 2014, made detailed statements about his experience.
