34 leaders confirm participation in Asian-African Conference

As many as 34 heads of states or government will take part in the commemorative event of the 60th anniversary of Asian-African Conference in Jakarta and Bandung on April 19-24, the Indonesian government said on Thursday.

Some 77 countries have confirmed their participation in the gethering with 3,600 delegates, said Arrmanatha Nasir, spokesman of the Indonesian Foreign Ministry.

As many as 480 businessmen from Asia-African countries would be present at the Asian-African Business Summit that will be held on April 21-22, he said.

Six international organizations - the United Nations, ASEAN, Asian Development Bank, African Union, Arab League and South Center - will also send representatives to the commemoration, the spokesman said.

Indonesia is to deploy over 26,000 soldiers and policemen to guard the event, according to military commander General Moeldoko. Endi
