Southeast Europe police chiefs pledge cooperation in crime fight

The Assembly of the Southeast Europe Police Chiefs Association (SEPCA) held a conference here Wednesday in order to strengthen cooperation between police forces in south-eastern Europe.
The assembly discussed issues and current challenges facing the region and beyond, such as the fight against illegal migration from countries involved in armed conflict, and the fight against international terrorism.
Albanian Director General of the State Police, Haki Cako stressed that the meeting was a good opportunity to create a strong network of police in the Balkans and beyond.
"Increased cooperation between our countries is essential to overcome the new challenges that arise in terms of strengthening of law and order," he said.
"The fight against organized crime, the fight against illegal trafficking of human beings, but also drugs and the fight against terrorism, which has taken on some religious matrix, are three main problems, which we face every day, and cooperation in this regard is necessary," Cako added, listing also some of the measures taken by Albania to combat this phenomenon and recalling the law adopted by parliament, which prohibits Albanian citizens to join armed conflicts in other countries.
In addition, domestic and foreign experts shared their experiences in this regard and also discussed the most important terms of cooperation. Enditem
