Albanians rank third in seeking asylum in Germany

Xinhua, April 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Albanians rank third in seeking asylum in Germany, Albanian Daily News reported on Wednesday.

In March alone, some 3,020 Albanians sought asylum in Germany. The number has doubled compared with January, when around 1,600 Albanians asked for asylum in the country.

The phenomenon has also attracted attention of the Albanian authorities.

On Tuesday, the Albanian Interior Ministry said the police have removed the rights of 750 Albanian citizens to travel to the Schengen area.

The ministry appealed to its citizens once again to respect the Schengen movement rules by traveling with regular documents.

It is absolutely impossible for the Albanian citizens to receive political asylum in the European Union, the ministry stressed. Endi
