Croatia to forks out 1.97 bln dollars to reduce unemployment

Croatian Minister of Labour and Pension System Mirando Mrsic said on Tuesday Croatia will produce 1.85 billion euros (1.97 billion U.S. dollars) to reduce unemployment in the country.

The funds will be used for creating new jobs and making an educational system that will correspond to the needs of the market.

Around 1.58 billion euros (1.68 billion dollars) will come from the European social fund, along with 66 million euros (70.2 million dollars) from the European Initiative for employing the youth, he said.

Croatia unemployment reached 18.5 percent in February 2015, the third highest unemployment rate in the EU, behind Greece and Spain, according to Eurostat. (1 euro = 1.06 U.S. dollars) Endit
