Croatia, Bulgaria share good relationship: presidents

Visiting Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic said on Tuesday two countries are enjoying excellent political relations and are interested in promoting economical cooperation.

Plevneliev, who arrived in Zagreb for a two-day visit, said at a joint conference after meeting that Bulgaria will help Croatia on using the EU funds by sharing its experience.

Bulgaria now uses around 80 percent of possible EU funds, however it had problems in using the funds for the first 2 years of its EU membership, he added.

During the meeting the two presidents discussed bilateral relations and Southeast Europe and EU membership prospects for the region. They agreed to promote the bilateral economic cooperation, including some planned projects in energy and traffic sector.

On Tuesday, Plevneliev also met with Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic and Croatian Parliament Speaker Josip Leko.

Trade between Bulgaria and Croatia amounted to 138.1 million euro (147 million U.S. dollars) in 2014. (1 euro = 1.06 U.S. dollars) Endit
